So, since the main course was taken care of, that left us with salad, pasta salad and dessert. Yes, dessert.
We made a bunch of pudding and put it over vanilla wafers and added whip cream. Yum.
Making Salad
What the All Saints Food Kitchen really is, is a house in Ft. Lauderdale that was bought by the local
Catholic church and gutted. They open the doors every day at 4:00 and serve food to whomever will
come until 5:00. Different volunteer groups come and serve on different days.
Ready to go
View of the church from the street. That black rectangle is a hole they cut in the wall with a tv on the
other side. When service is crowded, people can watch it from the sidewalk!
Closing the office for an afternoon in the middle of the week may have been a little risky. Especially with
all that is going on getting ready for season and schools opening. However, it was the right thing to do.
As a staff, we hope to do this the first Tuesday of every month and if anyone wants to join us they may.
We may or may not specifically go to All Saints, there are plenty of ministries we can help for an afternoon.
But what is important for us is that it gets us beyond our walls, beyond our desks, email and task lists and
reminds us “Oh, right. THAT is why we do this.”
